Julia Venza, a shamed Philadelphia homicide detective seeks solace in her Pennsylvania hometown with her new PTSD therapy dog, Ginger. But Ginger provides the opposite of therapy when the golden retriever finds a body in the park—even worse—the victim’s identity is linked to a cold case that casts suspicion on Julia’s family. And the local cop—once her pal—is bent on making an arrest.
Julia—with Ginger by her side—uses her policing skills to figure out what happened before her family is wrongly implicated and learns that even after three decades, someone will do whatever it takes to keep their small-town secrets buried. But like Julia, goldens are good at digging, and Ginger and Julia grow to become true partners. Julia not only regains her confidence for police work, but finds a healing path to a future with her new partner in crime and life.
